Hi Everyone,

We are still waiting to hear from the doctors about the spots found on Tyler’s leg, maybe we will hear Monday. Not much new news. Tyler’s leg is hurting every day. We go back to see Dr. O’Neal on the 2nd and 3rd of March. Just a few more days and we will be making that long trip again. Please keep praying for Tyler and our family I will let you know more soon as I know something. God bless, we love you all.

Hi Everyone,

We have made our trip to Charleston for TyTy to see Dr. Gross. It was a long hard trip. The kids were so restless. Nathan even got sick, throwing up all over his car seat. He’s okay now. I think he was carsick. Tyler had his scans; they found a spot on his upper leg. They said they don’t know what it is and that they were getting in touch with the oncologist to look at the scans. It could be a small fracture. They were not going to say it wasn’t the cancer, but they didn’t think so. It could be nothing; they will have to keep a eye on it. It has not been on any of the other scans. Dr. Gross said that he really hates to have to do surgery on Tyler’s leg again. He wanted to try to pull the angle over with his foot put a tight wrap around it and a cast, also a new brace, hoping this will hold his foot in place and stop the pain. He said the screw is to hold the angle and the foot together. He’s hoping he won’t have to take it all the way out. We will go back to Charleston on the 27th.

This will be our 3rd trip this month. He was doing okay and not hurting when we left. I want to thank God for all these angels that have helped u. There are some wonderful people in the world that really care. We have tried to get help with motel and gas and food, but were turned down by the MUSC social worker. I think this is wrong. Tyler’s cancer may be in remission, but he has had 26 or 27 surgeries and his little body is in a mess. So many scars and he has so much that cancer has done to him. He hurts, can hardly eat because of the jaw replacements, and the chemo and radiation has killed all the roots to what few teeth he has. Tyler cannot hear in one ear. The surgery for that is with Dr. White in June. He still sees so many doctors in Charleston. It takes us four hours to get there and four hours back. He will have his appointment coming up with the jaw doctor and Dr. Betsy Davis, Dr. Day, Dr. O’Neal. We’ll also ask the social worker about transferring Tyler’s care to different doctors. She said that his doctors would have to say that they couldn’t care for his needs and agree; because of all the surgeries and things that he has had done. She said that she doesn’t think they will do that.

Thank you Cindy H. for your donation; it helped out so much. Everything that is donated for Tyler is used for Tyler’s medical needs and travel food and gas. You are one of God’s angels here on earth. Tyler still has a long way to go, yet has come so far. We thank God each day.

Thank you Debby Stephenson and Courageous Kids for sending a gas card and for paying for our motel when we were turned down by the social worker. Debby Stephenson is such a wonderful caring person it was her anniversary and she and her husband took their time to take us all out to supper at Ryan’s. Thank you Flash and Charlie for everything and for being my friends. You are truly angels here on earth; not just to us but to all the other families that you have always helped.

A great big thank you from our hearts to everyone that has helped us the last four years. It’s been a long battle. Tyler still has so much wrong that the cancer caused and must be treated. Debbie knows first-hand the suffering this child has been through. Still to this day suffers from the two jaw replacements and both his fibula bones being taken out, losing part of his lung. He gets sick often. He’s had his mouth wired shut 2 times, a tracheotomy and chemo radiation. He’s had five or six feeding tubes, but doesn’t have one now. He can only eat a few things because the roots of his teeth were destroyed. He only has a few teeth and they just hang in his mouth. There’s one thing everyone can do for Tyler and our family and that is to pray. Keep him in your prayers and ask that your churches pray for Tyler. God bless and thank you all.

Hi Everyone,

Tyler was taken to Rutledge Towers at MUSC Hospital yesterday to see what to do about his leg. We were told to take him to x-ray about four hours after being at the doctor’s office. He has another fracture in his leg and the screw has worked its way partly out. We have to take him back on the 11th and 12th to see what they are going to do and when. They have him on strong pain medication and have sent papers to keep him home bound with school. He will have to have another surgery on his leg to fix the pin or take it out. He will have to have a cast and a new brace. We were told that his bones are so soft from the chemo and radiation that he could fractured it at any time anyway.

After four hours, there and half an hour in Dr. Gross’s office, with two babies screaming, we are off to oncology doctors for a checkup that was pretty quick. Then down to get blood work. Tyler cried all the way; he didn’t want to get stuck with that needle. I told him to be strong, that it had to be done. We have to make sure his cancer hasn’t come back. He looks at me and says, “Nanny, I will try for you, but it hurts so bad.” Made me want to cry. We ended up having to hold the poor child down, he was fighting so hard. This is what he will go through all his life. So then we got to start home. Got back here about 9:00 last night.

We want to thank Steven for sending us the $200 for gas and food. We appreciate you so much. Thank you for always being there for Tyler. You truly are one of Tyler’s angels, really don’t know what we would have done if you hadn’t sent gas money.

All of Tyler’s money is gone; used up on these trips and things he really needs. Thanks to the lady that put $10 in Tyler’s PayPal account. He has only $38 left in it. Pat for all her time and support by making TyTy all the movies to watch while he has to ride so much. Anyone that has helped in any way knows it is so much appreciated.

Tyler has an appointment with Dr. White at MUSC Hospital on May 12th. Tyler still has to have ear surgery in June. He cannot hear in one ear. That will most likely be a little while in the hospital. He has to have an appointment with Dr. O’Neal about his jaw. They will let us know when to come. On our way home Tyler said, “Nanny?” I ask what he wanted and he said, “I just wanted to tell you I love you.” That made everything I do worth every minute, every ride, all the long hours sitting with him.

I want to thank God for such a wonderful strong child and thank God I was chosen to love and care for him. I would do it all over and be right there to pray and hold his hand through it all.

One more thing, this wonderful lady her and her husband Charlie that try to help all the cancer kids: her name is Debbie “Flash” Stevenson. She’s the founder of Courageous Kids. http://courageouskidz.org/.

You can click on her link on Tyler’s page and get her phone number. She is wonderful and has helped with everything from food to gas to motels in the last four years. She would love to know about your child and if there’s any ways she can help. She loves these kids and it hurts her to know what they go through.

Thank you Flash, you are God sent!
