When a child is diagnosed with a chronic and life-threatening condition, the whole family suffers. Such a condition could be anything from cancer to heart problems to cerebral palsy or the need for an organ transplant, with care that often can be only obtained at major pediatric hospitals. Families that have to drive hours to clinic visits and are often separated for long periods of time during hospitalizations because the cost of lodging for the entire family is too great. The treatment for these conditions is normally expensive, and many families do not live in the same city as the hospital and clinic where they are seeking care of their child. Furthermore, even if the treatments are largely covered by health insurance, the South Carolina insurance won’t pay for medication or walkers and other supplies that Tyler needed in Maryland. The associated costs of travel and lodging can be overwhelming for many families, not to mention the physical, emotional, and relational toll that is taken on the family.

We are going to Maryland the 14th with an appointment on the 15th. We are driving because we cannot get a flight. Please say a prayer for Tyler and our family. This is so depressing, both mentally and financially. Tyler’s jaw must be looked after, and it has to be in Maryland. Dr. Rodriguez has to see Tyler. His legs are doing well, but he has a lot of pain in them when trying to walk. Yes, walk! Tyler is walking slowly, but walking. Say a prayer that all Tyler’s pain will go away and pray that the next surgery will be the last one for a while. We need to get him over this surgery. God, please make it all go away. It’s so hard to watch my boy suffer the way he does with all the surgeries he has to have. His little body is mutilated, scars where he’s been cut all over. He’s now had 47 surgeries.

Tyler’s one strong little 11 year old, what a trooper. God has been with us all the way. We still need donations. We have to travel, and Tyler will be having another surgery in a few months. Thank you to all Tyler’s angels for your love and support. I thank God each day that you all are here for our family. We love you all.

And now can you all believe Christmas is only a few weeks away? I finally got the tree up and hope to have a wonderful dinner with my family. I have not asked for help with Christmas except for the elves of Charleston with Courage Kids. Nathan will not be getting anything from them . . . just Tyler and his brothers.

God bless.

Hello Everyone.

We are suppose to take Tyler back to Maryland, but we got a call today that we cannot get a flight with Children’s Flight of Hope. They have maintenance the week of the fifteenth, so now I don’t know what we are going to do. We will have to drive if we cannot find a flight, but that takes money we don’t have for gas and food. Tyler has to go to Maryland to see Dr. Rodriguez because his surgery site looks bad and he is weak.

This is so stressful right here at the holidays. We need any help we can get. If you can help us, please do .You can donate at tylertucker.com using the donation button, or mail us at

This is the seventh time we have had to go to Maryland in the last year. Gees. I will keep my faith and know that God  will provide the help we need. I hope you all read the Greenville news. Tyler was in it and you can read it at tylertucker.com.

I already called the RMD  House and asked for a room for a few days. I’m going to call the social worker at the hospital see if she knows anything we can do. I hate to keep asking people for help, but without help, Tyler won’t get the help he needs so bad. He’s a really sick little boy. He’s been throwing up and so tired.

Tyler had three operations while we was in Maryland. They cut his jaw from ear to ear and then they cut his leg to get muscle for the jaw from his knee to his hip. Then they cut the other leg on both sides of the knee to get the rods out.

Please keep praying for Tyler. He needs those prayers. I just wish I could make this all go away. Once again, thank you for all your love and support. It’s what has kept Tyler here with us. All the cards keep a smile on Tyler’s face. No matter what you done, we are so grateful. Don’t forget to tell you kids you love them. This could be your child. You never know what tomorrow will bring. God bless, we love you all.
